Giving Tree is a Milpitas High student-run non-profit. We pick up surplus fruit and vegetables from local backyards and pass them to neighbors and food pantries.

The mission
One backyard tree can drop hundreds of pounds of fruit. Almost none of it needs to hit the ground.
Homeowners across Milpitas have citrus, plum, persimmon, apple, and loquat trees that produce far more than one family can eat. Meanwhile, families down the road stretch to afford fresh fruit and vegetables.
We're a group of Milpitas High students who show up, pick or pack the surplus, and hand it off to neighbors and local food pantries. It's free to donate, free to receive, and — if you want — you can chip in cash at pickup or on our GoFundMe.
Our process
From your tree to a neighbor's table.
Fill out a short form and we'll take it from there.

Fill out the donate form
Tell us what you have, how much (roughly), your pickup address, and a few times you're free this week.

We schedule a pickup
A student volunteer confirms a slot with you. Please have your produce bagged and in good condition — no rot or heavy bruising.

Listed on the marketplace
The rescued produce goes up on our free marketplace so neighbors can claim what they need.
- 04
Neighbors pick it up
Recipients grab their share. Any cash donations at pickup — or on GoFundMe — go to local food pantries.

All produce on the marketplace is free — we're donation based. When a volunteer drops off your bag, you're welcome to donate cash or give on our GoFundMe. 100% of proceeds go straight to local pantries in the neighborhoods we serve.
